WHAT IS "FAITH-BASED" THERAPY?

“Faith-based” is when a Therapist uses both skills from the mental health profession and the truths of the Bible to help individuals overcome their pain and struggles, grow in their relationships, and live more fulfilling and joyful lives. As a Christian, I understand the importance of a personal relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. As a therapist, I recognize the importance of the relationship between counselor and client. The building of relationships and establishment of trust between client and counselor fosters a comfortable environment that removes fear and facilitates healing. Although I am guided by Biblical principles I do not impose my values on my clients but rather meet them where they are.

"...the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the afflicted. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, freedom to prisoners...to comfort all who mourn..." Isaiah 61:1-4

"For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart" Hebrews 4:12

Do you see non-Christians?

Yes. We have seen a variety of belief systems in counseling and am sensitive to the belief systems of each client. I treat all people, regardless of age, race, sex, religion, ethnicity, or socio-economic status with respect, empathy, and acceptance.
